To term this budget as confident and smart would not be an exaggeration. With the passage of time the positive and farsighted fiscal policies of the government have started showing their results. One feels satisfied and proud by hearing the announcement made by Finance Minister that by the end of this year we would be out of the IMF vicious cycle.

The amendments proposed in the fiscal laws i.e. Income Tax Ordinance, Sales Tax Act and Customs Act have been very intelligently proposed whereby few new experiments have been introduced such as: Dispute Resolution Committee, uniformity in the rates for Sales tax, etc while other measures introduced earlier are being continued such as universal self assessment scheme, withdrawal of provisions relating to mandatory payments of tax before filing the appeals, reduction in the rates for levying of additional tax, reduction in custom duties, etc.

All the relief measures will show positive signs on the economy in addition to building confidence of the masses in the government policies.
